Two new wildfires have been reported in the Sudbury area of Northeastern Ontario, with both small blazes currently being held as fire crews monitor conditions.
The two fires, identified as Sudbury 47 and Sudbury 48, were reported Sunday evening in remote areas of the Northeast Region.
Neither fire was reported to be out of control in the latest update.
Sudbury 47 Fire Reported Near Chiniguchi Lake
Sudbury 47 is approximately 0.1 hectares in size and is located about 0.45 kilometres east of Chiniguchi Lake and 1.3 kilometres northwest of Telephone Lake.
The fire is currently being held, meaning firefighters have stopped its spread within established or expected boundaries but have not yet declared it fully under control or extinguished.
Sudbury 48 Fire Reported Near Moose Lake
Sudbury 48 is also approximately 0.1 hectares in size.
The fire is located about 0.45 kilometres northwest of Moose Lake and approximately 0.6 kilometres southeast of Gem Lake.
Like Sudbury 47, the fire is currently being held.
There were no reports of evacuations, injuries or structures threatened in connection with either of the two new fires in the latest update.
Other Northeastern Ontario Fires Declared Out
Two additional fires confirmed after the previous regional update were also reported in the latest fire situation.
Wawa 30 measured approximately 0.1 hectares and was located on a peninsula on the west side of Manitowik Lake, about 3.2 kilometres southwest of Swanson Lake.
Chapleau 20 was also approximately 0.1 hectares and was located on Windermere Lake, about 1.7 kilometres south of Henna Lake and 11 kilometres north of Highway 101.
Both Wawa 30 and Chapleau 20 have since been declared out.
